Make hay while the sun shines.

A small screen for your wall that shows what your solar is doing right now. Glance at it from across the room and you'll know when the sun is covering your power.

It runs off USB, so you can put it up yourself or have your electrician do it. No app, no account, no subscription.

The house is using 1.77 kW, the battery is charging at 3.00 kW and is 63 percent full, and 1.63 kW is going to the grid. • See your solar at a glance

Your solar, your home, the grid and your battery, live on the wall. You don't have to find your phone or open an app to check.

  • Use power while the sun is paying

When the screen shows you sending power to the grid, you have spare. That's a good time to run the dishwasher or the washing machine, or charge the car.

  • Spot a problem the same day

If your solar stops making power on a sunny day, the screen shows it that day. Otherwise a fault can go unnoticed until the next bill.

  • Nothing more to pay

There is no subscription and no account. You buy the screen once.

Up and running in minutes

You can do all of this yourself. An electrician or solar installer can do it too.

  1. Put it up near a power point

It runs off a USB power supply. Mount it somewhere you'll see it every day, like the kitchen or the hallway, and plug it in.

  2. Connect it to your WiFi

Pick your WiFi and type the password right on the screen. You can also scan the QR code it shows and finish in your phone's browser. There's nothing to install and no account to make.

  3. It finds your inverter

It looks for your solar system on your home network and starts showing your numbers, usually in under a minute.

The inverter needs one setting switched on, called “Modbus”. On some inverters, like Sigenergy, you can do this in the inverter's own app. If not, your solar installer can do it in a couple of minutes.

Works with three brands today

The current firmware reads Sigenergy, Sungrow and GoodWe. The brands marked “Coming” are planned and not finished yet.

Got something else? Tell us your inverter when you register. The brands people ask for most get added first.

A solar forecast that learns your roof

You don't need to know what panels you have or which way they face. Each day HaymakerHub compares the local sunshine forecast with what your system actually made.

After a few good days it has learned how much your system makes for a given amount of sun. Then the corner of the screen shows Today and Tomorrow in kWh. That helps you plan the washing for the sunnier day. Until it has learned enough, it leaves the numbers off.

There is nothing to set up and no panel specs to enter.

  • Dims at night. Set the hours on the screen and it turns itself down overnight.
  • Signed updates. New firmware is checked against our offline signing key before it installs.
  • Read-only. Nothing on the screen changes how your solar system runs.

Register for pre-orders

HaymakerHub is in pre-production. Leave your details and we'll email you when pre-orders open, with the price and the brands supported at that point.

We use this only to email you about pre-orders. No newsletters, and we don't pass it to anyone else.

What leaves your house

The screen does its real work on your home network. Three small things go out over the internet, and you can read exactly what they are.

  • A daily status report

Once a day the screen sends us its serial number, firmware version, inverter brand and how long it has been running. We use it to track warranty and firmware health. It doesn't include your energy data.

  • An update check

Once a day it asks if there is a newer version of its software. That request carries a version number and nothing else.

  • A weather request

Once a day it fetches the local forecast using your postcode, for the solar forecast on the screen. Your energy data isn't part of the request. Clear the postcode in Settings and this stops.

Nothing else is sent. We don't collect usage data or analytics.

Questions

Does it need the internet?

Only for the weather forecast, update checks and its daily status report. The energy display works on your home network. It reads your inverter over WiFi, so the screen keeps going if your internet drops out.

Where do the numbers come from?

From your inverter. HaymakerHub asks your inverter for its readings every second and shows exactly what it reports. It reads the same data the inverter's own app uses, so if a number ever looks off, the inverter is the place to check.

What happens if HaymakerHub shuts down?

The screen keeps working. It reads your inverter directly and doesn't need our servers to show your energy. Updates would stop. The forecast would stop too, because it comes through our service.

Is there a subscription?

No. No subscription, no account, no app.

Who installs it?

You can do it yourself. It runs off USB, so you mount it near a power point and plug it in. Your electrician or solar installer can do it just as well. The inverter needs one setting switched on. If your inverter's app doesn't let you do that, your solar installer can do it in a couple of minutes.

My inverter isn't listed. Can I still get one?

Tell us what you have when you register above. Our contact email goes up when pre-orders open, and you can write to us then too. The brands people ask for most get added first. We only list a brand once it works.

Is my data sold?

We only receive what's listed under What leaves your house, and none of it is your energy data.
